Fees & charges
Insurance and corporate matters
Our fees and charges for insurance related work vary depending on the particular service required, the location where the work is to be undertaken and the work volume involved.
JFA Brisbane also provides a number of set-fee surveillance options for certain matters within the South East Queensland region.
Please contact us to discuss details of your particular requirements.
Private matters
Matters involving surveillance
Surveillance matters within a reasonable distance from our investigator's base of operation are charged at $75.00 / hour. This incorporates all travelling charges (including travel time and kilometres), client liaison, telephone calls, photographic evidence, small incidental costs and reporting.
Many other agencies will charge for the above items separately - their hourly rate might be a little less, but all the other charges will soon add up to a considerable sum, often making them far more expensive overall. JFA Brisbane believes it is of far greater benefit for our clients to know exactly what their entire costs are going to be up front.
JFA Brisbane has a four-hour minimum fee for most surveillance matters. Shorter times and a revised fee-structure can be negotiated.
Missing persons
The base charge for a missing person investigation is $150. This will involve an initial interview where all the relevant information about the missing person is obtained. A series of preliminary database searches (many of which are proprietary to JFA Brisbane) are then undertaken and approximately 1 hour of follow-up telephone investigation work is conducted. If the missing person has not been located, we will give you further options and the likely costs for proceeding.
Background checks
The scope and extent of our background checks vary from a basic series of searches and inquiries (starting at $150) to a full comprehensive series of investigations (which will maintain the inquirer's anonymity, if required) costing $500.
We will work with you to only obtain the most cost-effective type and extent of information you require.
Public records searches
Unsure of what public record information is available or how much it will cost? We're the experts and would be happy to provide you with full details of our public records search capabilities and the individual search costs involved. We will also advise you on how best to get the results you require in the most cost-effective manner possible.
A preliminary list of one-off public records information and costs is available at this link.
Overt and covert investigations
Often a particular matter might require up-front interviews and perhaps the taking of statements or an audio/video recording of the information provided. Note: In Queensland it is legal to record a conversation you have with another person without that person being aware the conversation is being recorded.
Other matters might require information obtained in a covert or pretext manner. In other words, an investigator will approach someone and represent themselves in such a way as to obtain the required information without that person knowing the real reason for the inquiry.
These matters within a reasonable distance from our investigator's base of operation are charged at a flat rate of $120 / hour. This incorporates all travelling charges (including travel time and kilometres), client liaison, telephone calls, photographic/audio evidence, small incidental costs and reporting.
Other matters
Matters not listed above are generally charged at the rate of $75.00 per hour.
Note: All of the above quoted fees do not include GST.
Payment options
We accept instructions from larger Australian based corporations, insurance companies and legal firms without any form of pre-payment. We will provide our full report and a Tax Invoice at the completion of the matter and expect payment within 30 days.
For all other matters, including all overseas clients, we require pre-payment for our services.

To pay by credit card via PayPal (you do not need a PayPal account in order to pay this way, just a credit card) click on the PayPal logo. Then, if you have a PayPal account, simply sign in to your account.
Making a credit card payment via PayPal is one of the most secure on-line methods available as you are not dealing direct with the merchant or service provider - who never gets to see you credit card details..
