Recommended software Provides a brief overview on the software I use for adding date/time to video, editing it and producing client-ready DVDs. Real life scenarios / questions Scenarios covering most of the things you might want to do with your surveillance video. I've given a brief answer to each question as an overview. Using AVS Video Converter AVS Video Converter converts almost all types of video files to DVD or any other video file format. It also can bring up date/time on MTS files and will combine multiple files types of different aspect ratios (16:9 and 4:3 file types) into one DVD with the correct aspect ratio throughout. Using SuperDvdate SuperDvdate will add time/date to the following file types; MOD, MTS, M2TS, AVI, MP4, MOV, TOD. It will also work with MP4 and 3GP, which have been taken on your mobile / cell phone. Using AVS Video Remaker AVS Remaker allows you to take multiple files of the same file type, edit them and then re-make them (without any re-encoding) thereby giving you no loss in quality. Very accurate (by Key Frame) editing can be done, photos can be taken off the video and you can exclude audio on the DVD before burning. Using AVS Disc Creator Both AVS Video Converter and Remaker produce a full DVD structured file before giving you the option to burn a DVD. That file is perfect for archiving your video on a PC. AVS Disc Creator can then take that DVD file and re-burn additional DVD copies. Using Freemake Video Converter A quick, easy and free way to get date/time on your HiDef MTS video files and burn them to a DVD with no edits. I've given a brief answer to each question as an overview. Full details of how to use each program follow. 1. I just want to make an unedited copy of all my HD MTS files on DVD with date/time Use AVS Video Converter (recommended) or Freemake Video Converter. 2. I want to get date/time onto my HD MTS files and then edit them Use AVS Video Converter to get the date/time onto your files, create a DVD file structure on your PC, then use the *.VOB files from that in AVS Remaker to do your lossless editing and burn a final DVD, with or without audio, menus and chapters. 3. I want to get date/time onto my video files which are not HD MTS files Use SuperDvdate to insert date/time onto your video files. Then use AVS Remaker to edit them or, if no editing is required, use it to burn them straight to DVD with or without audio. 4. I want to do combine both MTS files and non-MTS video. Some files already have date/time, but some also have different aspect ratios. Use SuperDvdate to get time/date onto the non-MTS files that don't already have date/time. Then, combine all your video (in the correct sequence) in AVS Video Converter. Add date/time to the MTS files, fix any aspect ratio problems, then either burn straight to DVD or create a DVD file structure on your PC for editing in AVS Remaker and producing the final DVD. 5. I want to both burn a high quality surveillance DVD and/or produce a small-size video file that I can email or upload to a website. Use AVS Video Converter to produce an unedited DVD. Then use it again to produce almost any video file type in various file sizes. If the finished DVD was produced using AVS Remaker (it needed editing), add the *.VOB files from the DVD file structure into AVS Video Converter to produce another file type/size. 6. I want to store my surveillance video on a PC and produce additional DVDs if needed. Keep the DVD files produced by AVS Video Converter and/or AVS Remaker. Use AVS Disc Creator to burn any additional DVD discs needed. 7. I want to save myself some time by converting each day of surveillance video and then combining everything at the end of a job. Use AVS Video Converter, then AVS Remaker to do any editing. Don't burn the finished video to DVD, just keep the DVD file structure for that day (name the file accordingly). At the end of the job, place each days *.VOB file into AVS Remaker and produce a final DVD file and DVD disc. Because each file is already in a *.VOB format, they will only take seconds to combine. If you prefer to do all the editing at the end of the job, just keep the DVD file structure produced by AVS Video Converter each day and put all of those *.VOB files into AVS Remaker for editing and making the final DVD. |
